Marriage the is Spirit Filled and Christlike

  • Marriage is a blessed and sacred relationship that is designed by God to uniquely demonstrate the selfless character of Jesus.
  • In a selfish and prideful world, marriage is a countercultural example of love and sacrifice.
  • Husbands are called to love their wives as Christ loves the church, sacrificially and unconditionally.
  • Wives are called to submit to their husbands as to the Lord, out of reverence for Christ.
  • When husbands and wives live out their callings in marriage, they reflect the glory of God to the world.

As Christians,  marriage is a unique opportunity to demonstrate the selfless love of Christ. We can compare marriage to an arch, which is strong and efficient because it distributes the load among its stones. In the same way, a marriage is strong when both partners are willing to put the other first.

Paul emphasizes the importance of submission in marriage. Submission is not about weakness or inferiority, but about respect and love. When a wife submits to her husband, she is not giving up her rights or her identity. Instead, she is choosing to put her husband’s needs before her own.

We can conclude by saying that when husbands and wives live out their callings in marriage, they reflect the glory of God to the world. They show the world what it means to love sacrificially and unconditionally. They also show the world that there is hope for relationships, even in a broken world.

Here are some additional points that could be included in this lesson

  • The Bible teaches that marriage is a lifelong commitment between one man and one woman.
  • Marriage is a covenant, which means that it is a sacred agreement that should not be broken.
  • Marriage is a gift from God, and it is meant to be a source of joy and fulfillment.
  • Marriage is a challenging but rewarding journey, and it requires the love, patience, and forgiveness of both partners.
  • A successful marriage is built on a foundation of love, respect, and communication.
  • Husbands and wives should strive to put each other first and to serve each other’s needs.
  • Marriage is a beautiful picture of the love between Christ and his church.

I hope this helps!
